The Mission

The mission of Whisker's Way is to provide a safe, nurturing sanctuary for animals in need, facilitate their adoption and rehoming, and promote animal welfare and responsible pet care through community engagement, educational programs, agility, grooming, and boarding services. Our goal is to enhance the well-being of animals while fostering a deeper understanding of responsible pet care and animal protection in the Verde Valley.

Origins

Whisker's Way was born from a profound commitment to animal welfare and community involvement. Incorporated in 2024 and based in the state of Arizona, our organization was founded by a dedicated team of animal advocates: Nicole Gonzalez, Savahna Borrego, and Jessica Haltzman. Our vision is to establish a sanctuary in the heart of Verde Valley that will serve as a safe haven for animals in need and a center for community education and engagement.

Why

The need for Whisker’s Way became evident as we saw the growing challenges faced by local animal control—overflowing facilities and numerous animals needing rescue and rehabilitation. Moved by these needs, our founders envisioned a sanctuary that would do more than just shelter animals. We aim to create a space that nurtures and rehabilitates, while also fostering community awareness and involvement in animal welfare through educational programs.

Looking Forward

While we are in the early stages of developing our physical facilities, our goals are clear, and our plans are ambitious. We are actively seeking support and partnerships to realize our vision of a comprehensive animal care sanctuary that includes agility yards for training, professional grooming services, and boarding facilities. These facilities will not only support animal welfare but also provide essential services to pet owners in our community.
